Sandy Blanton for Indiana District 73

A POSITIVE VISION FOR ALL OF INDIANA - A VOICE FOR DISTRICT 73

I’m so pleased to have the support of local law enforcement!  I was very proud to work with the Indiana Sheriff’s Association on legislation to save Indiana counties money when inmates must be cared for in hospitals.

I enjoyed seeing the Washington County Democrats at their recent monthly meeting! I’m making friends in our newly configured district. Can’t wait to spend more time with these fine folks!

Thanks to the extraordinary efforts of Sonny and Deanna Kendall, Mike and Kim Bostock, Russ and Melissa Apple, and Keegan and Tessa Higgs, a truckload of needed supplies were delivered to New Pekin Fire Station and Pekin United Methodist Church to help those cleaning up and rebuilding.
I won’t soon forget the kindness and generosity shown by neighbors after the devastating tornado that left many in need in our district!

It was my honor to serve three years in the House of Representatives where I stood for the people in my district without regard to party politics. While I served in the House, I never forgot who sent me there. It is important, I believe, to remember that government, and especially the House of Representatives, belongs to the people - all of the people.

I would like to return to the Statehouse to be your voice. The opportunity to serve you and to represent our communities is an opportunity I appreciate and take seriously.   There is much that joins us together; there are historical unities and social relationships that connect us.

I would like to ask for your support and would appreciate your vote in the primary on May 8, 2012.

My family is important to me. I have been married for 43 years and have two children and four grandchildren. Those children, as well as your children and grandchildren, deserve the protection and education that we once took for granted.

I am dedicated to education. I believe in the value of knowledge and I completed my college degree (Business Administration), worked for a Fortune 500 company and earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration.  I had a family, two children and a full-time job while achieving these goals. I appreciate the stress and struggles of working people trying to make a better life. Education is the key to opening doors in that struggle.
Our schools should have the freedom to innovate and create an inclusive learning environment. There needs to be less state control and more freedom for every school to meet the individual needs of students in their care. Local school boards, elected by their friends and neighbors, should be responsible for providing a quality education for all our children, not a company hired by the state.  Our children deserve it – our future depends on it.

Public service is one of the highest callings we can have as Americans and as Hoosiers. It is an honor to have the humbling opportunity to serve the citizens of Indiana House District 73.

I will strive to make their voices heard loud and clear in the halls of the Statehouse in Indianapolis.
