Help Our Neighbors in New Pekin
Indiana Continental Express (owned by Sonny and Deanna Kendall) just north of Paoli (map) is serving as a collection point for donations to assist tornado victims and clean-up operations. They have made two deliveries already from the generosity of Orange Countians and will be accepting more at their business today (Monday) from 8 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. and until 3:00 p.m. Tuesday.
A teacher from Pekin, who is on the Town Council and is assisting in clean-up, just sent this list of needed items:
- gas cards
- rakes
- shovels
- tarps
- tree pruners
- handsaws
- plastic wheelbarrows
- chain saw oil (2-cycle)
- work gloves
- hammers and nails
- crowbars
As temporary trailers are brought in for shelter, he said mattresses will also be needed (how about an air mattress?) and that the Methodist Church mentioned the need for diapers and baby wipes.
Just take donations to Kendall’s big gray building—the one with the semis. Then re-post this so that we get the word out. Thanks!
